How many of you have actually watched the 2005 Korean drama My Girl starring Lee Da Hae and Lee Dong Wook? *raises hand*

And I must admit~ it is still one of my very favorite K-drama up to now!
I totally adore LDH's character in here~ love her cheekiness, her constant "Bbashya" and of course, her chemistry with LDW.
And not forgetting the lovely little Precious Moments snow globe that LDW got for LDH for her birthday. (She had no clue when her real birthday is, but since she was born on a snowy day, everyday that snows is her birthday)
I especially love the significance of the snow globe in this drama, my addiction with snow globes also started with this particular globe.

For you to understand its significance, you must first know the storyline of the drama. From DramaWiki:
When Gong Chan (Lee Dong Wook) meets the lively and beautiful Yoo Rin (Lee Da Hae), he finds out that she has connections to his missing cousin, whom his grandfather has been searching for. He asks Yoo Rin to lie about being his long missing cousin until he can find his real cousin. She says yes, but soon their feelings for each other get in the way of their plans. Gong Chan's friend, Jung Woo (Lee Jun Ki) falls for Yoo Rin while Gong Chan's ex-girlfriend, Seo Hyun (Park Si Yeon), a pro tennis player, tries to win him back. Will the two ever tell each other how they feel? Will Gong Chan ever find his real cousin?

My screencaps from Tudou.com
I have searched high and low for this particular Precious Moments snow globe after watching My Girl, but sadly to no avail. It is only until late last year (2010, so 5 years of searching), when I was shopping in the newly opened Precious Thots in Nex in Serangoon, that I chanced upon this lovely piece!
When questioned why this globe is available now, the sales assistant replied that the release date for Precious Moments items are different in USA and Singapore. LOL as if. I guess it must be cause too many people are looking for this globe, so they made more to meet the demands.
Anyway, I'm just glad I got my globe. I grabbed it home with me immediately as a christmas gift to myself, and here it is now sitting as lovely as it is on my table.
Details: The flakes inside seems to represent falling snow. The baby is sleeping so soundly beside the oversized moon. And the little angel who watches over the baby. My little angel is actually facing the outside instead. How cute ^^
Also the bottom of the globe is shaped like clouds. Makes one feel that the snow globe is floating above clouds. It reads: "My Precious Angel filled with love. A blessed gift sent from above." Aww. Love how it relates to Yoo Rin's famous saying "You'll be blessed." Also plays "Rock A Bye Baby."
Lights on and with its original box.
My Girl DVD and soundtrack. Was told before that the DVD casing looks like a christmas card cause it's super thin. Blurry photo > <
And a night view of my beautiful globe with lights on. Simply stunning <3
I have lots more of snow globes photos to share, but I shall save them for next time.
So with that, ends my first blog entry.

I've been looking for years for this globe as well! Any chance you can help me in getting the globe? Does that store still have copies of the globe? Any details or tips, please email me at OtakuLeader@gmail.com I love that drama and I just have to have that globe!
ReplyDeleteHi OtakuLeader~ Do you reside in Singapore? Cause the Precious Thots stores in Singapore still have lotsa stock for this particular globe. Or if you're living near any Precious Moments stores, you can check those out too. Hope that helps =)
ReplyDeleteWow...so long since I answered! And no, I live in the USA. But by chance does the place you got it from have a website? I have a friend in Singapore who might be able to get it for me and then ship it, but if I can order from the store directly that'd be good too. What's the name of the store?
ReplyDeleteHey OtakuLeader, you might wana check out if there are any Precious Moments stores near you via http://www.preciousmoments.com/content.cfm/find_a_retailer, since PM are actually based in USA.
ReplyDeleteThe store name is Precious Thots, you can check out their shop locations and also contact them here: http://www.preciousthots.com/StoreLocations.aspx
Hope you get your snow globe :))
o.O Hmmm...I guess I'll have to call some of them and see about getting the globe or if they have it in stock by strange chance. I know I read on another blog elsewhere a few years ago that they said the globe wasn't going to be made anymore and that it was limited edition release in the USA so if I find it I'll 'be blessed!' as Yoo Ju Rin says. :) But thanks for the links! I hope I can find it! And how are you doing with your globe? Still works fine for you? :)
ReplyDeletehey chichi,

ReplyDelete@angwl: Hey angwl :) You're from Singapore right? I just went to Nex today and there was no stock for this globe there, and Junction 8 was only left with 1 final piece, but it was missing a screw. Perhaps you can email them instead?
